An Article About Our Director, Sandra Robbins

We are very excited that our Artistic and Executive Founding Director, Sandra Robbins, has for the past year been part of a project sponsored by The Robert Mailman Aging Center at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health: Exceeding Expectations: One Year. One City. 20 Lives. The result of this project is a multi-part series of articles on each of these individuals, Mrs. Robbins included.

Part one of the article on Mrs. Robbins entitled, “Love, Marriage, a Theatre and a Legacy” is now available on the project website, and is in a slightly abbreviated form as an article in the free newspaper Westside Spirit under the title “Playing All the Parts,” which is available in print form at local shops, restaurants and in distribution boxes on the upper west side, and on line at Both articles are written by Dorian Block with photographs by Heather Clayton Colangelo.

The article deals with many aspects of Mrs. Robbins life as an active elderly New Yorker, but focuses especially on her directorship of The Shadow Box Theatre.

If you are able to read the article and send us feedback by email, Facebook or Twitter, we would appreciate it! Thanks, as always, for your interest in The Shadow Box Theatre.
