Where We Have Been

Residencies During Our 46 years

From its inception The Shadow Box Theatre has had residencies primarily in donated community spaces. We have been very fortunate in having extraordinary support from the community so that we could maintain our low ticket prices, and stay true to our mission to serve the inner city community with affordable innovative and cogent Theatre Arts.  We started out at Temple Ansche Chesed, on the upper West Side where we both pro duced our first productions and performed, received our first reviews, as well as our first NYSCA grant.  We moved to PS 75, and then for a number of years to The Riverside Church.  From there we went to PS 145, followed by a number of Public Schools on the West Side, Harlem and East Harlem.  For 18 years we were the Children’s Theatre in residence at the YWCA of Brooklyn.  When they renovated their facility  we had to move to rental spaces.  We spent two years at the Brooklyn Music School, then Bleeker St, and are now back in Community space at PS 3, The Bedford Village School.  We want to take this moment to thank the NYC community for its support..
