ANANSE the Spider has heard that NYAME THE SKY GOD has a pot of stories which contain all the wisdom in the world, and would like to have it, so that he can be truly wise! Nyame will give it to him if he can accomplish 3 challenging tasks.... Based on the Ananse Stories of West Africa and the Caribbean, this puppets and people musical written by Emelia Asiedu with music by Greg Alexander, teaches decision making skills and critical thinking, and the concept of storytelling as a way of sharing experience as a form of wisdom.

Recommended for K-4th grade.
We are pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the NYC Cultural Development Fund! Art and culture are the heart and soul of New York, and we are proud to be one of the NYC arts organizations receiving city support this year thanks to the partnership between the NYC Mayor’s Office and the City Council.
This investment in our work will help us bring accessible, affordable cultural programs to our communities throughout the New York City. Our CDF grant will support bringing live theatre performances that use music, dance, and delightful puppets to help children learn about empathy, sharing and the environment. In addition our CDF grant will support and develop our theatre arts workshop series designed to help children develop their own creative voice.
Please consider joining the CDF as a Shadow Box Theatre supporter. With your help we will enrich the lives of New York City children: https://www.shadowboxtheatre.org/support
